This restriction in blood flow can cause several complications, ranging from spasms to stroke or heart attack.

What are the Symptoms of PVD:  PVD can present in various ways depending on the underlying cause and severity in the patient. Symptoms may include reddish or blue skin, the appearance of wounds or ulcers that won’t heal, reduced hair growth on the arms, hands, legs or feet. A burning or itching sensation, usually in the limbs or lower extremities.

What are the Risk Factors for Developing PVD or PAD: Risk factors may include smoking, drug use, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, cold temperatures, use of vibrating machinery, and emotional stress.

What Can Happen if Not Treated: Potential complications can be serious, including tissue death, heart attack, stroke, wounds that won’t heal, infections, erectile disfunction and pain.

What types of TOS are There: TOS can be diagnosed as neurogenic (nerve compression), arterial (arterial compression) or venous (venous compression).

What are the Symptoms of TOS: muscular atrophy, weakness, fatigue, numbness, swelling or tingling in the hands, arms, or neck. 

What are the Risk Factors for Developing TOS: Lifting heavy weight (especially chronically such as that required for work or bodybuilding activities), repetitive overhead movements, bad posture, pregnancy, and more.

What Can Happen if Not Treated: The syndrome may progress, causing an increase in the severity and frequency of symptoms, including nerve damage leading to reduced mobility.
